INTER-STATE SHETLAND SHEEPDOG CLUB
MEMBERSHIP REQUIREMENTS and APPLICATION
REQUIREMENTS
Types of Memberships: There are two types of memberships available to all persons eighteen years or older who arein good standing with the American Kennel Club and who subscribe to the purposes of this
club.
Associate Membership: For those individuals who are desirous of becoming a voting member,
and those individuals who are not able to regularly attend meetings or participate in club
activities, but who want to be associated with the Club an receive Crate Talk, our newsletter.
Regular Membership (Voting): For those individuals who can regularly attend scheduled
meetings and participate in Club activities and have been an Associate Member for a minimum
of at least a one-year period.
Associate Membership:
The applicant must request, complete and submit an application. This application may be requested at the first meeting they attend.
The application must carry the sponsorship of two regular members together with their letters stating reasons for sponsorship.
Sponsors must have been a voting member of the club, for a minimum of two years and must have fulfilled the requirements to receive an award (attending two meetings if living within a 100 mile radius, and worked at one event during the calendar year). One sponsor or the Membership Chairperson must visit the home to ensure that the applicants dogs are well cared for.
Club members may only sponsor one new applicant or applicant family per calendar year.
Sponsors must have known the applicant(s) for a minimum of one year.
Upon receipt of the applications by the Membership Chairperson and found to be complete, i.e. sponsor’s letters and application fee, it will be read and voted on at the next meeting. The applicant must be present at this meeting.
Regular Membership:
An associate member desiring to become a regular member must submit a written request to the Board at the end of one year as an associate member.
All requests for regular membership must be voted on by the Board.
The Board will use its discretion on a case by case basis and is under no obligation to vote an associate member into regular membership within any set time period.
Those individuals who have been an active member of another Shetland Sheepdog Club may apply to the Board for regular membership if that club presents a letter of recommendation to ISSC.
